RADIO SHOWS

9 Volt Radio on XM

"My hour long show on XM Radio explores, and exposes, my very broad definition of classic American Folk Music. Using both new recordings as well as historic recordings from the past, I mix urban and country blues singers, honky-tonk heroes, soul shouters, gospel testifiers, mountain balladeers, folk traditionalists, western swing stompers, rockabilly bad boys, doo-wop crooners, bluegrass barn burners and surfer dudes, with an equal dose of contemporary singer-songwriters and bands. Too often our musical heritage is divided up into opposing genres. I'm honored to take this hour to walk through how all our American music is interconnected." Dave Alvin-Sept 2006
